How do I connect an external hard drive to my router?

If your Sitecom router has a USB port, you can connect an external hard drive and share it with all the users in your home. If the external hard drive uses a separate power adapter, you must also connect this.

Follow these steps to connect a hard drive to the router:

1. Access the hard drive using Windows Explorer. Click on My Computer and then on Network.

2. You will see a device appear with the name SMBSERVER. Click on this.

3. You will now see a network drive with the name sda. Click on this. A login window appears.

4. Log in with your username and password. For the user name, enter admin (lowercase). The password can be found on the bottom of the router or in the Network Login Details flyer supplied with it.

You will then see the contents of the hard drive. You can now open and copy files.
